Italian Classes Perth

Are you looking for an exciting and comprehensive Italian language program? Are you interested in visiting one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, such as for instance Florence, Milan, Venice, Rome or Naples? If the answer is yes, our Italian classes are designed for those who need to communicate effectively in everyday situations.   Italian is a beautiful melodious language, with a rich history. Considered a single language with numerous dialects, Italian, like the other Romance languages, is a direct offspring of the Latin spoken by the ancient Romans.

In Perth Langauge Institute Italian lessons you will develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Italian and an understanding of Italian culture.  In our Italian courses Particular attention is given to conversation, to develop an increasing capacity to express yourself and communicate in Italian from the very beginning of the course.  Naturally this method includes the study of the rules of syntax and grammar, which are essential to language learning, but which, alone, are not sufficient for gaining a real command of the language.

Italian Beginners Level 1

  • Elementi culturali: cultural notes on Italian history, lifestyle and people.
  • Note linguistiche: grammar explained in student-friendly language.
  • Lessico: a glossary of words and phrases for each lesson.
  • Attività: a variety of speaking activities to be done with a partner, in a group  and as a class.
  • Revisione: exercises to practice activities involving speaking, listening, reading, vocabulary and grammar.

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • use and understand essential vocabulary related to everyday life (e.g. numbers, colours, days of the week, months, seasons, telling time, stores, family members, etc.)
  • provide basic information in Italian about themselves, their families, interests, likes and dislikes, and daily activities;
  • participate in a simple conversation on everyday topics (e.g., weather, meeting new people, school, shopping, asking for and given directions etc.);
  • provide general information about Italy (e.g. geography, weather, food, etc.);
  • read edited texts on familiar topics; understand the main ideas, and pick out important information from "authentic texts" (e.g. menus, signs, train schedules, etc.);
  • fill in forms requesting general information, write letters and postcards providing simple information;
  • produce Italian with enough grammatical accuracy and accurate pronunciation to be comprehensible to an Italian speaker accustomed to speaking with non-natives.

Italian Beginners Level 2

Designed as a follow on from Italian For Beginners 1, the Italian Beginners 2 class will be using a communicative approach. The emphasis will be on speaking, listening while building vocabulary in a dynamic way. The students will improve their grammar skills and will build up confidence to develop their conversation skills. A minimum of 12 hours of prior study is required.
